Wedding Day Shoes

You won’t find any bridal shoes available at Epiphany Boutique, but brides ask all the time what we’d recommend. Today, we talk about unique and classic bridal shoes, as well as some key advice on shoes and alterations…

The traditional bridal shoe is one that matches the dress perfectly. Nowadays, most brides, bridesmaids, and mothers don’t choose these options. The bride of today is wearing shoes that reflect her personality, comfort level, and interests. We see everything from bedazzled toms to cowboy boots to Jimmy Choos!

How many pairs of shoes do you recommend?

The brides that want to wear incredibly high heels will typically bring a second pair for the reception! Having some kind of backup shoe helps the bride feel comfortable. I know one wedding planner that personally purchases a second pair of shoes for her brides because she knows they’ll need it at some point!

Should a bride purchase the shoes before or after alterations?

We recommend buying shoes after you get the dress so you know what goes with it, but you definitely need to have your shoes with your first fitting. We can’t begin alterations without the shoes. We recommend bringing them to the first fitting. If you can’t make it through your fitting to take your shoes off, those are not the shoes to choose for your wedding. As much as we want beautiful shoes, they have to be comfortable.

There are plenty of beautiful shoes so you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for beauty!

If you HAD to choose one bridal shoe, what would it be?

Badgley Mischka shoes are by far the most popular bridal shoe we see and recommend. They’re effortlessly beautiful, can be re-worn, and go with any dress!

What bridal shoes did you choose or are you considering? We’d love to know! Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
